We are delighted to invite you to our next Fulbright Club Speaker Event, which will take place on Friday, 6 March 2026 at 16:00 in Budapest (ELTE Professors Club, 1056 Budapest, Szerb utca 21-23.).
Our discussion will focus on the first year of the current U.S. Administration and its broader transatlantic implications.
Our roundtable will feature the following distinguished speakers:
Professor Géza Jeszenszky, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and former Ambassador to the United States, Norway, and Iceland. Professor Jeszenszky has had a distinguished academic and diplomatic career, including teaching modern history at Corvinus University and serving as a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Professor Péter Balázs, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and former EU Commissioner. Professor Balázs is a respected academic and diplomat, holding a ScD from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His career includes service as Ambassador to Denmark, Germany, and the EU, and his research focuses on EU foreign policy, modernization, and European integration.
The discussion will be moderated by Professor Emily Schulten Weekley, U.S. Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pécs. She is the author of three books of poems, most recently the award-winning Easy Victims to the Charitable Deceptions of Nostalgia. She holds a Ph.D. in poetry from Georgia State University and is Professor of English at The College of the Florida Keys, where she serves as the 2024-2026 Poet Laureate.
The event will be conducted in English.
